John Pontious of Ross County, Green Twp., Ohio

John Pontious appears in early census records of Ross County, OH, living in Green Township, apparently born between 1770-1780.  While there were other Pontius men listed in the same area who were old enough to be John's father, specifically Frederick and Andrew Pontius, there is not documented evidence of his connection to them.  His wife was said to be Mary Eyestone.

In the attached article, which was printed in October 1997 The Bridge Builder (a publication of the Pontius Family Association), John W. and Jacqueline Pontious Riley discuss the facts surrounding John's identity.  Following are his children, as identified in that article.  Perhaps this will aid some descendents in connecting and comparing notes.
